If you remember last Saturday, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
As some of you figured out, it was because I was planning a proposal to my girlfriend. Unsurprisingly, she said yes!
A couple of weeks ago, I had told her we would do a fancy date night on 10/23. It’s not that uncommon for us to go out for a nice dinner and drinks. That was all a ruse. What I did instead was take the day off from work, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which was the favorite thing I’ve cooked for her, and I’ve made a lot of things for her.
Got all that ready, then I got dressed nicely, I put a bowtie and a jacket on and took the M3 over to her house, where I proposed, told her the whole thing was a ruse and that in fact we were going to my place to eat eggplant parm and drink fancy champagne.
It worked out about as well as I could’ve wanted. We both wanted something low-key, and wanted the night of to just be us. Made some calls to parents and friends and then just enjoyed the first night of this phase of our relationship.

Congratulations!
Take some time to enjoy this, because planning a wedding sucks.

While I don’t drink bubbly often, good bubbly is quite nice!

Well look at that happy fella! This is fantastic. Now we have to figure out how to do the bachelor party, I suppose.
Wedding planning is work, but make sure you keep at least some control for yourselves and don’t ceded it all to the parents.

Indeed it does. If you can help it, avoid planning entirely. If the future in-laws are going the traditional route and paying for everything then just nod, smile and be happy that they made and raised your spouse to be who she is. If you’re paying then screw all this traditional southern wedding stuff and elope. Rent out Pretty Place and Z oom some friends/family and blame COVID.
At any rate, congrats!!

They already married their other daughter and I think they’re looking forward to it. My only requirement is that it’s not in a barn and I don’t have to be sober at the reception.

They paid for her sister’s wedding, so sounds like they’d pay for this.

Congratulations!
In a world of crazy proposals (which is cool if that’s your thing) it’s refreshing to see a simple and meaningful proposal.

There you go. Bonus points for it not being the first wedding out of their children . Cheers to y’all!

I specifically asked if it had to be in public or if it could be at one of our places of residence. Once she was good with something simple, I made plans. She was more than thrilled.

My most important advice for the reception is to make sure you get to eat before doing the rounds. Too many folks forget to eat, and end up starving later. Plus, if you don’t plan to stay sober, having food on board could help prevent any embarrassing photos you don’t want circulating later. ;)

Congratulations!
As others have said, just enjoy being engaged for a bit. Wedding planning is a pain, but it’s not as bad if you help (don’t be Mr. “I just want to put on a tux and show up”). Anyways, have fun!!!

It could of been auto Ssangyongs. Lol.

Just smile and nod. Help if she asks for help, and take care of your parts
, otherwise, stay out of the way. LOL

You would’ve won my heart over with that eggplant parmesan my goodness. You’re a saint for posting the recipe . I’ll be giving it a whirl sometime soon.
I wish nothing but happiness for you and yours, for many years to come!

Appreciate it!
If you do end up making it, let me know how it comes out.
